It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm at all," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
